Oklahoma’s COLOURMUSIC are a four-piece who release their debut album ‘My ______ is Pink’ in Europe in the first week April on the respected Memphis Industries label, home to The Go Team and Field Music amongst others.
Most commonly compared to The Polyphonic Spree, Colourmusic’s sound is an extremely electric and varied form of psychedelic folk tinged with elements of everything from gospel to drone rock, in a manner than defies easy categorisation. It’s probably best summed up by the following quote from lead singer Ryan Hendrix: “If you write a song that’s too literal, it dates it,” explains Hendrix. “We’d rather make things a little more subconscious. It gives a song a longer life span because you never know what’s really going on.”
