The Phoenix Foundation

Originally coming from the city of Wellington in New Zealand, The Phoenix Foundation released three albums between 2003 and 2007 that earned them a solid fanbase in their home country for melodic brand of guitar pop. Described alternatively as a ‘kaleidoscopic pop group’ and a ‘progressive indie rock band’, the pure strength of the melodies they produce seem set to expose their sound to a worldwide audience in 2011. Their fourth album ‘Buffalo’, released on Memphis Industries (The Go! Team, Field Music) in January 2011, had Q magazine exclaiming ‘the future, and the past, seldom sounded so delightful, and had The Guardian declaring “songwriting this good doesn't come along often.....an album that already seems destined to be among the best of 2011’’ in a five star review.

Their appearance at Forbidden Fruit will be The Phoenix Foundation’s first trip to Ireland – we are confident it will certainly not be their last.
